The Boy who was Raised by Librarians by Carla Morris is a sweet story about Melvin, a boy who spends a lot of time in the library. It follows his relationship with the 3 librarians at this public library throughout his school years. Later he becomes a college graduate and finds his own way back to his library.
This is a wonderful little book! It easily wins the heart of any one who ever had someone go out of their way to help them. My favorite lines were after Melvin had lost his bug collection and the 3 ladies "quickly organized an emergency rescue squad. The bugs were retrieved, identified, classified, and catalogues within 20 minutes.
'How did you do that so fast?' asked Melvin.
'That's how we are,' explained Leeola.
'...we organize and catalog,' finished Marge. 'It's in our nature.'"
What a great book! Great to show the way the library environment should be. Great to show importance of lasting relationships. Great to show the power of giving a little extra goes a long way. Great to show that as time/people change love and acceptance, security and support, never age or diminish. I loved it and you will too!

HELLO!
Hey, I am your new Media Coordinator. My name is Ms. Holleman. I love to read! I also love to share what I read with people I like. I am so glad you are here!
I use this blog to talk about books I am reading. I also use it to model for you how to talk about books YOU like! NOTHING makes me happier than for someone to come in and talk to me about something AWESOME they have just read or learned, unless it is to get to read about something AWESOME you just read or learned! :)
I hope you have a wonderful year and I hope we get to share a lot of both! See you soon!
